One of the highlights of our
trip will be to see the glaciers of Kilimanjaro, which are
said to be 80% depleted
since being recorded in the early 1900's. They could be gone by 2015 so we better hurry! Read more...

Hello friends, welcome to Its In Africa You Know. This web site is dedicated to a journey that I made to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa in late February/Early March 2010. Before we begin, I invite you to listen to the sounds of Africa while you view this web site. It's a very nice Free African Internet Radio Station, enjoy!

Well folks, I made it to the summit! Below are links to each day of my journey up the mountain. Enjoy and remember, as I always say, "Life is Grand!" But first, watch this, see if you can catch the boo boo.

This IS the Western Breach route, holy smokes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It still gives me a chill. We began at Arrow Glacier Camp and ended at the crater floor. The western breach is a portion of the crater that literally collapsed and fell down the side of the mountain. We went up that. Also, notice how the mountain looks different from the west? That is because the mountain is usually photographed from the other side, or the north side I believe. See the image in the banner on top? that is the common side you see captured in most pictures, that is why the mountain looks so different. We literally took the "back way."
